The Dominican Friars of the Southern Province

Welcome to the website for the Dominican Friars of the Province of Saint Martin de Porres. Our 124 friars serve the Church and the People of God throughout the Southern United States. Although most people refer to us as “Dominicans”, we are officially known as the Order of Preachers. We were established by St. Dominic de Guzman in the year 1216 with a simple, but crucial mission - preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of souls. Eight hundred years later, this legacy continues to lay at the heart of every friar throughout the world. We continue to live out St. Dominic’s vision of an order of preachers rooted in prayer, study, community and preaching. We invite you to take a few moments to our explore our site and get to know us.
