OP Friar Spotlight
Dave Caron, OP-Socius and Vicar Provincial, grew up wanting to be a firefighter. Father Dave put aside those dreams of being a firefighter for a different calling. Father Dave knew he wanted to be a Friar in the Southern Dominican Province after he was a diocesan priest for 10 years. He missed community living and had a desire to be a better preacher.
Father Dave just finished reading the Liturgical Theology text Sacred Power, Sacred Space by Keldie and a fiction book, Hell's Corner by Baldacci. The movie he most recently saw was The King's Speech, enjoys watching Law & Order and he has a weakness for Italian food!
If he could be a super hero he would choose Spiderman because he has inner strength and is also vulnerable.
In his spare time, which is rare because of his exhausting travel schedule, Father Dave enjoys reading, exercising, going to the movies, museums and concerts.
While hot in New Orleans, his favorite season is the summer time especially if he is near the ocean.
Father Dave will tell you that he has two passions as a Friar. He enjoys Liturgy celebrated well and preaching!
Father Dave's favorite passage is Luke 24:31-35 "And their eyes were opened...he was known to them in the breaking of the bread." If you ask him what is his favorite or "a-ha" moment as a Friar he will tell you there are just too many to name just one!
