The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. -Luke 10:2
The Dominican Friars are blessed to have eight men in formation. Of them, Br. Joseph Paul Albin, O.P. made his solemn profession this summer at St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Orleans. Br. Carl Joseph Paustian, O.P. was ordained a priest and Br. Nicholas Reynolds, O.P. was ordained a deacon on Saturday, July 7 at Holy Rosary Church, Houston.
Becoming a friar involves a long journey of prayer and discernment. Dominican formation includes one year as a novice in Irving, Texas, six years of full-time theological studies and pastoral experiences in St. Louis, MO, and finally a full year of ministry as a deacon.
As we rejoice in bringing qualified young men into the Order, the cost of educating a student friar for one year is currently $53,567
Your contribution helps cover the costs of tuition, room and board, health insurance, summer internships, and books for our student friars. It also provides care for elderly or infirm friars, including Fr. Carl Trutter, O.P., Fr. Daniel Shanahan, O.P., Fr. Neal McDermott, O.P., and others.
